East Coat Earthquake

Oh, no, oh dear! We're so not safe anywhere at anytime!

Anywhere could be earthquake country, not just good ole Cali-land of sunshine and surfer boys and Hollywood glitz and glam! Factoid (for all you history buffs out there!) There's an earthquake once every century on the East Coast. Last time was in 1944. Tbis time around it goes from Georgia (in the South) to Canada (which is all the way to the North). Holey moley! It had caused one hella destruction leaving nothing untouched. And then there aftershocks after that.... The poor East Coasters. I have family out there. I hope they're alright. How there be a earthquake (not to mention a hurricane) so huge, so powerful-maybe that's the BIG one. Is it cause of global warming? Will Obama sent help? If he doesn't, it will be like Hurricane Katrina all over again.

Yea, you feel so helpless watching news online or on television about some horrible tragedy like the earthquake and might wanna do something to help. Do something worthwhile for the cause-it may or mayn't be global warming, but you can still go out there and help the middle-class East Coasters who are now inevitably homeless or you could just donate whatever you can. Think of the children-our hope for tomorrow. Be hopeful that there will even be a tomorrow.

Life Before Mass Technology

OMG! What was life like before hi-tech gadgets ruled the airwaves? Wait, it wasn't all that long ago! Holey moley, we kids have fun the old-fashioned way with slinkys and yo-yos and jumping ropes and hopstoch and playing tag for the girls. For the boys they played basketball, football, etc. At school. I played kickball, volleyball, etc. We had good simple fun.
We didn't IM, text, talk on the cell without people saying our phone it's surgically attached to our ear! It's was rude to talk during dinner, if only we made it quick I had the pay phone at my high school and could use the receptionist's phone  if need be at my elementary school. I only talk on the phone with a real person, not just chat online (could be sex offender, who knows?) Payphones are obselete and people text all the time even during dinner, classes, work, etc.  To sum it up, they text during inappriate times.
People were cowards now cos they're not into bully face-to-face; instead they do it online, which is a billion times worse. Bullying is hurtful either way. Bullying is ganging up on another person.
Technology has been advanced for better or for worse. I've listed all the cons. Now here goes the pros.
Well, I can watch movies online (Thank you, YouTube! and Netflix!) and shows I've missed. I can chat on Facebook but I would give anything-anything-for face-to-face contact. I can email my friends and learn different computer programs online.
\
Technology has its uses, so don't go abusing it!

Blackbeard

History in the making: one of Blackbeard's 3,000 lb., 11 foot, 4 inch long anchor has been recovered off  the North Carolina coast! On the Beaufort Inlet in Carteret County, N.C., to be precise   (yeh, big was in back then) Righteous, man!
The anchor for Blackbeard's flagship, Queen Anne's Revenge, has been sunk since 1718. Queen Anne's Revenge has been found in 1996. The scientists hope to raise the other anchor, but it is stuck to the sunken ship.
It is believed to be a French slave vessel before Blackbeard captured.
5 mons after the ship sunk, he was killed w/ no mercy at by Royal Navy in Ocracoke Inlet in 1718. After killing him, they hung his head on the bow of their ship. (Kinda gruesome and kinda cool too)

Blackbeard-Queen Anne's Revenge
in all its glory!

As you can see Queen Anne's Revenge is a large ship. As I said earlier, big was in.  Everybody need to have everything. If you're rich, you've the money to buy big everything. (ie.; big mansions, yachts, etcera)
Nowadays, it has changed. Things are more compact, more smaller like your normal ipad or smartphone, whatever. So the more money you've got, the more compact your things get.

The 'New' World

Forget Columbus-there was always America. Shouldn't be called New World. All of the explorers, which included Columbus, shouldn't have disturbed the Natives. They acted all high-and-mighty, striding in like they belonged there. Hey, get a clue! You ain't belong there! Go back to England or wherever you came from! Why must you disrupt the Natives' contentment, bringing disease and acting all cocky. So cocky that you cause 'em to become you slaves. And Columbus, if they didn't do your biding, why did you chop off their hands. Why did you guys invaded their peaceful life in their homeland?

Why do we even celebrate Columbus Day-the day when all rights ended for the Natives? Even the Natives deserve to be treated with respect, not to have their peaceful lives disturb by these horrible 'explorers,' who not only mistreated them, but thought the land they 'discovered a whole new land all to themselves. Well, guess what, buddy? The Native Americans were there first! You've no right to take away their land!

These so-called 'explorers' have been taken over since the turn of the last millennium. These 'explorers' were sent by kings and queens to survey the land or what they have of it. Back when they didn't have global warming. Global warming exist yet because of low population. Lower population caused fewer exxposure to lower rate in holes in the ozone layer, which is caused by high-tech gadgets emanating in the air (reception) and hairspray (aerosole). And I also think that's when the land started breaking apart from Pangaea. But that's just me.

Summer's Comin'!

...And with it, comes lots of amusement parks starting up again!
.How's this for a lil summer history?
A lil self-entertainment!

According to the New York World in June 30, 1906 courtesy of  Library of Congress, Coney Island admission prices for it ' 25 of the Best Attractions'  were for 25¢, so that means one shiny penny for every single ride, which included the 'Grand Old Steeplechase Park.' Attractions included Thompson Scenic Railway, Beautiful Steeplechase Park (I know, I'm being redundant, but whatever...), Dida Illusion (prob'ly some kinda magic act), Great Ferris Wheel (how original), Bicycle Hippodrome, DewDropCoaster, Trip to Algiers, House of Trouble (prob'ly a funhouse w/ magic mirrors), San Francisco Show,  Razzle Dazzle, Big See-Saw, Old Plantation, Mystic Room (prob'ly fortune-telling), Earthquake Room (!),  Ocean R.R., Topsy Turvy (how original), Devil's Cave (a haunted cave, maybe?), Ghost House (Haunted House), English Marionettes (sounds creepy), Glass Factory (!), Shipwreck Bark 'Saranac' (sounds like pirates), Coney Island Souvenir, Swimming Pool with admission, Wiggle-Waggle (most prob'ly dancing),  The Twister (the latest success)
Nowadays, my all-time favorite amusement park (California's) Great America theme park in Santa Clara general admission is different for everybody involved. For example, for adults, single-day admission is $45.99. And for jrs. and srs. single-day admission is $34.99 It's known that they've a new ride every year.
Oh yeh things have risen since the turn of the last century! In this new millenia, things haven't cheapen; things have worsen. Things are still on the rise like gas...
Last century, according to Chicago's Day Book of Jan. 24, 1916 gas were like, 25¢, now it's so high at nearly $5 it practically touched the heavens!

Jesse James

Factoid: Did you know that Jesse James had a son that became a lawyer. He gave his son his name-his namesake. Sure, he rubbed against the law (which killed his mother), but he learned his lesson, and decided to work with the system instead of against the syatem. Junior family (w/ wife and kids).  He also visited his father's graveside everyday w/ his uncle Frank James.

Jesse James Jr, ca 1894

Jesse James present day

Compared to today's homewrecker/tattoo artist Jesse James, Seems the family's  bad rep follows him to this day,, only in diff way.
He sure was cut. One thing's for sure: He passed down the cute gene to today's Jesse James. I wonder how many generations is it now? Anyone?

Classic Cars

Listen up classic car buffs, have I got news for you!
I've just found out the one of the  first cool American sports car. Others were less well-known; Stutz was the best well-known of the bunch cos the rest were just replicas. Stutz Bearcat was around from 1912 to 1934, so it was around during the per and post WWI period.

1912 Packard Victoria 02

1914 Stutz Bearcat-

Compared to today's luxury (super) cars like Lamborghini and Ferrari  are much sleeker, more polished.  Even Jeeps are more sharper than these classics. Take a look! Make a comparison!

Jeep Wrangler

Supercar -Lamborghini-Murcielago

Supercar Ferrari

And if u really have a classic car, think of the gas mileage! It's doesn't even look cool to me-it looks large n' clunnky to me. These sleek, supercars may be expensive, but HOT to look at, I could ogle at it all day long. Wish I had the monies to afford it, though. (and a license to drive it.

Drive safely! Don't get into road rage out there!

Infamous Women

Myra Hindley .......Child Killer

Bonnie Parker.............Bank Robber

Belle Starr..............Female outlaw

Ruth Ellis..............Murderess
These 'ladies' (if u call 'em that) thought they were above and beyond the law. They are a force to be reckoned w/ and more.  They probably thought they were untouchable. They did it to make a name for themselves. And did they!
They were admirable in my eyes. They were nonconformists. They were not willing to submit to the 'system.' They've the ability to put fear in people's hearts and souls.
A coupla of the gals (Bonnie and Clyde, Myra Hindley and Ian Brady) had men by their sides while they were on they're crime spree.
I admire Belle Starr the most cause she was an Union spy for the Confederacy during the Civil War. She then joined the Jesse and Frank James and Younger gangs after she opened up her home to them. And that was the beginning of her exploits immersing against the law.

Women's Suffrage

I sure wish I was around during the women's suffrage movement. I could've made a difference and mae it into the herstory books.
Women should've gotten the right to vote in the 1st place without a doubt, just like blacks should given the right to vote. Women and blacks-we're in the same category! Women are never taken seriously; they treated as though they're not important enough. They're grouped with the children. It's like, women are only good for one thing and one thing only: taking care of kids.  We should be allowed to be treated equally and fairly in the eyes of God but how about in the eyes of the law? Huh?
Elizabeth Cade Stanton and Susan B. Anthony were two of the most prominent American women suffragist of that period. Alice Paul was another American suffragist. Here's her pic:

Rare Civil War Photos

Rare Civil War photos (way back before digital camera) has been surfaced. As a serious Civil War buff, I was totally crazy happy about it. So here's a rare behind scenes of the Civil War  Check it out, history buffs!

wives and children follow husbands and fathers
It is terrible how the war cost so many lives, including Honest Abe. What a horrible, terrible tragedy. :( We can only learn from our mistakes. But the outcome was great: they abolish slavery although they have a long way to go in the way of civil rights: KKK-Ku Klux Klan which was banned when the white suprmacist caused lynching and burning of churches in the Deep South. Unfortunately some bigotry out there still exists.
It's how we were raised that caused us to become bigots towards others-doesn't matter the race, ethnicity, etcera. Doesn't matter how educated we are or aren't, we are all bigots in one or another.

Welcome to history of...!
I get most of my info from the History Channel, so bear with me. I thought watching History Channel would boarden my horizons, but they share with us the viewers facts we didn't learn in school. Kids shouldn't go to school-they should watch History Channel, maybe they do for the homeschoolers.

Well, enjoy learning about the unlearned world of history-stuff we never imagine we would learn in school!

First Female Vice Presidential Candidate Geraldine Ferraro Dies

Way back before Sarah Palin, there was Geraldine Ferraro, who was the trailblazer for all women politicans to become the 1st Vice Presidential Candidate, Presidential Candiate running mate with Walter Mondale running against Pres. Candidates Ronald Reagan and Vice Pres. Candidates George H.W. Bush. Guess we know who won...
No one remembers Geraldine Ferraro, but avid politicos. Geraldine paved the way for Sen. Hilary Rodham Clinton and even Gov. Sarah Palin. It helped Sarah Palin run for Sarah Palin run for vice president. (Let's not even go there again!)
Geraldine was one bold lady. Even though she (and Walter Mondale-how could we forget him?) lost the race, she is perseverant. She continued onward with her political career even though her family has legal (shall we say?) troubles.

RIP Geraldine Ferraro: you were a great lady
